Jim Fitzgerald Jr. posted a condolence
Monday, July 2, 2018
I just found a card of condolence Mrs. Waite sent to my mom in 1997 when my dad passed away. My mom and dad were good friends of Al and Margaret during their time at the Boulevard Club in Florida. My mom Ruby Fitzgerald would often talk about the great times they had together, my mom passed away in 2016 at the age of 93. My mom and dad were planning a trip to Wilson to visit Al and Margaret when my father Jim took sick and suddenly passed away in 1997.
On behalf of the Fitzgerald family of St. John's, Newfoundland I wish to pass along my condolences on the passing of Mrs Waite, I thought you would appreciate knowing our families lives were touched by the friendship of our parents.

During this very difficult time, draw close to God and receive the strength to endure. Also, may you find comfort in God's promise to soon end suffering, tears and death. Revelation 21: 3, 4

Sorry to hear today of your loss. I remember many get-togethers at the house on Young Street, and appreciate the way she and Uncle Al tried to keep us connected after the death of our mom, and then our dad.
Thoughts and prayers to all of you.

To the family of Margaret Waite:
I am sorry to learn of the passing of your wonderful Mom. No matter at what age, the loss of a Mom changes the world a bit and I am sorry for the sadness you feel. Margaret was one of the most wholesome, competent, loving people I've ever known. We "Schimley kids" always enjoyed our times with you all and your parents. What felt like a huge picnic in their back yard which we attended for a number of years was always a joy and your Mom made us feel so welcome. It was great fun to talk with her at Karen Schimley Suggs wedding 9 years ago and to catch up with her life. It was amazing how much she remembered about all of us!! I still miss going "home" to Niagara Falls to my parents home typically on Fridays after work and often Al and Margaret were there playing bridge. It was always a joy to chat with them. Best wishes to you all. Mary Schimley (Mildred O'Neill Schimley and Anthony (Tony) Schimley's oldest daughter)

This was a wonderful lady. I am so sorry for your loss. As a student at Newfane, she was my teacher. I was a a problem student for her for sure. She held my feet to the fire and expected me to be responsible. I look back at her with much fondness for her toughness and kindness showing me a living example of integrity and persistence with young kid that probably didn't deserve it.

I remember fondly our parents shared friendship that lasted their lifetimes. Your mom was always calm, gentle, beautiful posture, tall and sweet. I remember she always had homemade pies sitting on the counter when we came for many (July 4th) picnics. I was so impressed with the ability of them driving to Florida, and her relenting to going with one of you kids driving to get her down there. She was always so kind to Anne, and could remember details of our lives, I don't know how she did it with all of you, your spouses, kids and grandkids. I know, how much she will be missed. You're so fortunate to have had her for so long in your lives. Our 'family vacation' was via a contact with her sister Helen, on lake Oneida. I have pics of their weddings, as they were neighbors growing up on 18th street.
Best regards and deepest sympathy,
Ellen

To all the Waites, I have lived in Vermont for quite some time now and for those of you who don't remember how I knew your wonderful mother ~~ I was born and raised on 18th Street, two doors from the Foleys. Mildred (Schimley) my older sister and Margaret were teens when I was born. I was told often that Mildred and Margaret dressed me in my christening dress. Quite some years later, I was enlisted as a "baby sitter" for a few of you in Wilson. Margaret and I kept in touch through following years ~~ an occasional lunch, a phone call, a letter at Christmas. I have so many fond recollections of her,
her "calm" .... her caring about others ... her ability to "laugh things off" and "see the good" in so many things some of us would have difficulty doing ...
the Margaret I knew was patient in situations I viewed as trying for most people,
she was joyful and thankful for so much, told me often that she could not complain.
It's maybe an old-fashioned term but, in short, I think of her as a Lovely Loving Lady.
I am sorry she is gone.
