THE HARDISON LEGACY

About

Proudly Serving Niagara County Since 1921

From humbled beginnings the Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc. has always strived to be a pillar to the various surrounding communities of Niagara County. Providing not only the highest quality of funeral and cremation services, but also doing the utmost to be a friend, confidant, and supporter to these communities.

Our History

Dayton E. Hardison

Dayton was first introduced to the funeral business when he found part-time employment at the age of 14 digging graves (by hand) at North Ridge Cemetery in the town of Cambria, NY. Dayton attended Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in Syracuse, NY, upon graduating he returned to Ransomville, NY and opened the doors to Hardison Funeral Homes in 1921. Approximately 3/4 of a mile north of its current location on Ransomville Road sat the original Hardison’s family home that doubled as the business, and it is there that Dayton, his wife Mabel raised their young family. Within a few years, the firm and the family moved to its current location at 3648 Ransomville Road. It is there that Dayton and Mabel would reside until their passings in 1970 & 1982. Dayton was personally committed to providing the communities he served with the highest degree of compassion, personal attention, sympathetic understanding, and that of a friendly consultant and advisor. He would later pass along these endearing traits on to his two sons Gerald and Denton, who later would assist him in the operation of the firm.

Denton Hardison

Denton would graduate from Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in June 1949. From there he would work closely with his father (Dayton) and brother (Gerald) to continue to provide the highest quality of service to the surrounding communities. He eventually took on the ownership role that was previously held by his father at the funeral home, and in 1957, under his leadership the Hardison Funeral Home expanded, with a second location located in historic Lewiston, NY. Then again in the 1960’s he struck a partnership with the Ingram family which led to the formation of the Hardison-Ingram Funeral Home in Niagara Falls, NY. Denton continued to be the face of Hardison Funeral Homes, Inc. until 1992 when he sold the firms to his son Bradley to carry on the Hardison legacy.  Denton remained an integral part of the firm until his passing in 2015.

Bradley D. Hardison

Bradley Hardison attended Hudson Valley Community College and in 1975 he graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science. After graduating he returned to the family firm to work alongside his father(Denton) and uncle(Gerald). Then in 1992 Bradley would take the mantle previously held by his father as owner of Hardison Funeral Homes Inc. While at the helm Bradley would continue to carry on the “Hardison Legacy” that had been established two generations prior of not only providing the highest quality of professional funeral services, but a steward to the communities of Niagara County. Bradley “Brad” as most in the communities he served knew him by passed away unexpectedly in November 2023. Soon thereafter, in January 2024 seeing the communities his family had served with commitment and passion his eldest son Evan B. Hardison stepped into the shoes previously held by his late great-grandfather, grandfather, and father, making him the 4th generation of Hardison Men to steward the communities of Niagara County.

All of the Hardison Funeral Homes owners and their family members have been known not only for their reliable, high-quality service for the funeral needs of the communities of Niagara County, but also for supporting and interacting with members of the community. They have been integral part of the Ransomville Flag Day Parade, and involved in organizations such as Kiwanis, Rotary, Ransomville Volunteer Fire Company, St. Mary’s Hospital Board of Trustees, St. John’s Episcopal church of Youngstown, St. Peter’s R.C. Church of Lewiston, Immaculate Conception RC church in Ransomville, Ransomville United Methodist Church, Youngstown Presbyterian Church, and many other worthy groups. Lastly they have been especially committed to honoring Veterans of all branches of U.S. Armed Services.
