Obituary of Raymond L. Robinson

Raymond Louis Robinson, age 94 of Youngstown died Monday December 10, 2012 at his home under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice. Ray was born August 7, 1918 in Kane, PA, the son of the late Frank and Olympia (Pieroggi) Robinson. He came to Niagara Falls in 1937 for employment at Certinteed and later Carborundum Company. He retired from Carborundum as an Inspector in 1981. A WWII Veteran, Ray served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to his honorable discharge with the rank of Boatswain 2 Class in 1946. He was the recipient of the Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars and the Asiatic Pacific Medal with two bronze stars. After the war, Ray married Clara (Fernandez) Robinson on May 15, 1948. They moved to Youngstown in 1969. After retirement from the Carborundum Company, Ray and Clara enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada with both the Youngstown and Lewiston Senior Organizations. He was an active member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church; a member of the Niagara Falls Bowman Club and Seven Clan Bowman. He especially loved gardening and woodworking. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Claire (Hugh) Gee of Lewiston, and Robin (David) Wyno of Youngstown; two sons, Wayne (Julie) Robinson of Lexington, SC and Raymond (Diana) Robinson of North Tonawanda; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Serianni and Frances Robinson. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday, December 13, from 3 - 6 pm. At 6:00 pm a Celebration of Ray's Life will be held in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oakland Rural Cemetery, will be private.
