Obituary of George E. Lenz, Sr.

George E. "Butch" Lenz, Sr., age 58 of Niagara Falls NY, died unexpectedly on Wednesday December 14, 2011 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after being stricken at home. Butch was born December 10, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late George H. and Sylvia (Bubb) Lenz. A lifelong resident, he was a 1972 graduate of Niagara Falls High School and graduated from Niagara County Community College with an Associate's Degree in Physical Education. Butch had worked for Cataract Metal Finishing in the Falls for 20 years. He then worked for Coutts Library Service for 6 years. The past 3 years, Butch has worked for the City of Niagara Falls Parks Dept. in Maintenance and Grounds. Butch was a Coach with the Whirlpool Little League for 20 years. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and NY Yankee fan. He enjoyed playing in the Fantasy Football Leagues. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joann (Amorelli) Lenz whom he married on July 19, 1994; his sons, George E. "BJ" Lenz, Jr. (Amanda) and Andrew J. (Heather) Lenz both of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Hannah, Emily, Adrianna, Steven, and Jacoby James "JJ" Lenz; two sisters, Anne Reid of Niagara Falls and Julie (Ron) Black of Lewiston; his brothers in law, John (Lorraine) Amorelli of Pittsburgh, PA and Kenneth Reeves (late Jude) of Mishawka, IN; his father and mother in law, Joseph and Joann Amorelli of Berrian Spring, MI; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Connie Schrock of Florida. He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Lenz. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday from 5 - 7 pm. A Memorial Service will begin in the funeral home at 7:00 pm with the Rev. Paul Keeling officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
