Please share a memory of Patrick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patrick A. DiBartolomeo,Sr of Lewiston, NY passed away May 10, 2011 while under the tender care of Niagara Hospice. Born on September 15, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, to Antonio and Maria (Sala) DiBartolomeo of Torella, delSannio Compo Boso, Abrussi, Italy. Patrick grew up in the city of Niagara Falls. Upon graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1949, he earned many academic scholarships and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There he graduated and achieved a degree in architecture in 1954. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Patrick worked with several local architectural firms. He moved his family to Lewiston in 1970, where they resided in the home he designed. Patrick took great pride in his family home and worked diligently to create surroundings which were to "bring the outside in". His love for trees, sunshine & nature were apparent through the "walls of windows" throughout the home. For the past 30 years, he maintained his own practice with offices out of his home. Patrick was especially fond of Frank Lloyd Wright's designs. During his 50+ year career as "The Architect", Patrick's prominent work can be seen across western New York. Patrick was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus member in Niagara Falls. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niagara Falls prior to moving to Lewiston where he served as an usher at Saint Peter's Roman Catholic Parish. Patrick enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the work of his hands. Many friends have been recipients of this work, especially his hot peppers, zucchini & tomatoes. He also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees, basketball & football, in addition to being an avid golfer. Patrick loved to travel abroad. He was a "permanent fixture" in and around Lewiston, and enjoyed the company of countless friends while "out & about". His great love for his family & God was a driving force in his life and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him, benefitted from that great love. Patrick is survived by Marylou (D"Amuro) DiBartolomeo; daughters, Theresa DiBartolomeo of Niagara Falls, NY, Lisa (Louis) Marcantonio, and son, Patrick (Susan) DiBartolomeo of Castlerock, CO. He was predeceased by son, Anthony (Tony) P. DiBartolomeo. Patrick is also survived by his grandchildren; Kaley, Louis Jr., Maria, Anthony, Kayla, Rachael, Michael, Mario and Samuel; and a sister, Jean (Auntie) DiBartolomeo of Lockport. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 14, at 10:30 am in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston. (Please assemble at Church). Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
