Fred "Freddie" Vroman, age 88 of the Town of Wilson, died Tuesday May 10, 2011 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
Fred was born March 2, 1923 in Roaring Branch, PA, the son of the late John and Ida (Woodward) Vroman and has lived in the Town of Wilson the past 48 years. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving from 1943 to his honorable discharge in 1946. Fred chose to serve his country again with the outbreak of the Korean War and again served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He worked on the assembly line at the G.M. Plant in Tonawanda for 33 ½ years, retiring in 1995. He and his wife, Margaret Jean, owned and operated Vroman Farms in the Town of Wilson, taking their produce to market in Niagara Falls. Fred also ran an automotive repair shop from his home for many years. He was a 'jack of all trades" and was a 4-H Leader for the "Randall Rd. Rustlers" where he helped the members with their woodworking projects. He enjoyed gardening as well.
He is survived by his wife of 53 1/2 years, Margaret Jean (Bevan) Vroman; three daughters, Diane Bustamante, Cheryl (David) Daniello of Rockland, ME, and Barbara Ann Black of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Jeremy and Eric Bustamante, Sara Wilcox, Aaron and Megan Daniello, Mitchell J. and Sierra Black.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, NY.
