When the winds were calm and the waters were settled, we were able to do our best, but when the howling squalls and white caps raged, we needed a beacon of light to stay the course, and there you were showing the way.
Now you have gone, the course we must take will challenge us for evermore.
You were a good man John, Thanks for being my friend and leader.
