Obituary of John S. Martin

John S. Martin, 91 of Tonawanda, NY died at his residence on Sunday July 15, 2018. Born in Buffalo, May 14, 1927 to the late George and Helen (Kitson) Martin and has resided in the Town of Tonawanda since 1965. John was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S Navy from 1945 to 1946. He then served the City of Buffalo Fire Dept. for 30 years retiring in 1985. After retirement he volunteered for Hospice Buffalo and also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners and enjoyed driving the children to the Shriners in Erie, PA. In July 1950 John married Helen (McDowell) Martin who predeceased him in April 2001.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Alison Martin and Patricia (Jerry) Stinson, 4 grandchildren; Jack, Christopher, Adam and Brian and 5 great grandchildren and a brother; George (Karen) Martin. He is predeceased by a sister Beryl Frank and brother James Martin. NO PRIOR VISITATION. A memorial service will be held Friday July 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM from St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church 1395 George Urban Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14225 concluding with military honors.
