Obituary of Ronald Paul Hicks
Ronald Paul Hicks, 64, of Wilson, NY died Sunday (May 20, 2018) at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Kenmore, NY on June 24, 1953 to the late Kenneth and Phyllis (Hall) Hicks. Ron graduated from Kenmore East High School and attended Alfred State College (where his love for radio began) and also SUNY Buffalo State.
Ron was employed at Marine Midland Bank from 1973 - 1990 and was also a ON-AIR personality for WLVL 1340 am in Lockport for over 15 years from 1983 - 2002, and most recently was employed by SUNY Buffalo State as a computer programmer from 2001 - 2018.
In 2002, Ron received a heart transplant at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Trolley Museum for 50 years; a founding member of the WNY Audio Society; a member of the finance committee at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church for 5 years; Treasurer of the Thomas Marks PTA, received a lifetime membership (8 year member).
Ron is survived by his wife, Judith (Hacherl) Hicks; daughters, Stacey (Jeffrey) Danner and Rhonda Hicks; grandchildren, Easton and Avery, and brothers, Lawrence (Theresa) Hicks and Brian Hicks. He was predeceased by one brother Gary Hicks. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the HARDISON Funeral Home, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on THURSDAY from 4 - 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Immaculate Conception R.C. Church 4671 Townline Rd. (Route 429) Ransomville, FRIDAY (May 25) at 9:00AM with Rev. James Bastian officiating. Entombment will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, memorial donation may be made to Immaculate Conception R.C. Church.
