Obituary of Charles M. Buttery
Charles M. "Butch" Buttery, age 61 of Lockport NY, died unexpectedly on Friday March 16, 2018 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital Lockport.
Charlie was born July 11, 1956 in Norfolk, VA, the son of Robert M. and the late Joyce (Westley) Buttery. He was a 1974 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School and served briefly in the U.S. Marine Corps from where he was honorably discharged in October of 1975. Charlie married Mary J. Saylor on June 19, 1978 and they have resided in Lockport the past 19 years. He was a Service Manager, employed by Delphi-Harrison Thermal Systems in Lockport, retiring in 2006 after 30 years of service.
Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He enjoyed all sports and in 1983 he received an award from the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association of America. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, his father and step mother, Robert M. and Leronna Buttery; two sons, Charlie Buttery (Shannon Layman) and Jimmy (Amber) Buttery both of Lockport; his grandchildren, Ayden, Taylor, and Charles Buttery, Jr., and Ryan Sandor; two sisters, Marlene "Molly" Lewis and Amanda Buttery (Michael Lawson); his father in law, Irven "Nick" Saylor; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Levi Buttery.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 21, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Julio Romero officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13270-3049.
