I’m very sorry about the death of Nancy. I was a neighbor of hers on 4th St. Her family was very friendly with ours; we used to talk across the vacant lot in between our house and theirs, and their dog Jet used to come over to our yard to visit. In fact, Nancy had a special bond with my aunt Marion Allen who lived with us. The reason they were friends was because my aunt fell and broke her arm north of our house on 4th Street (where Artpark is now). Nancy, a teenager, came by and went to get help. My aunt was always grateful to Nancy and praised her for her help. At the time, Nancy was a Girl Scout, and my recollection is that Nancy received a Girl Scout Award for helping my aunt because my aunt reported the incident to Nancy’s Scout Troop. I also remember that she and her mother used to have Christmas teas and invite friends and family. After I moved to Chicago and my family house was sold,Nancy was always eager to have me visit whenever I came to town. Nancy had always kept up with what was going on in Lewiston; she was an invaluable source of information.
