Obituary of Ellen G. Truesdell
Please share a memory of Ellen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of our Dearly Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Nana, Ellen G. Truesdell. She passed on Saturday, September 30, 2017, in the arms of and under the loving care of her granddaughter Amy, surrounded by her dearly beloved family.
Grandma's story began on July 29, 1933, born to Thomas and Elizabeth Graves in Shiny Row, England. On May 17, 1952 she married the love of her life, Duane E. Truesdell, in England and they came to United States to start her family in Ransomville which was her greatest passion. Over the years Grandma was active in many groups with her children. A lifetime member of the Ransomville United Methodist Church, she held many positions over the years. Ellen had a God given talent as a seamstress, making many wedding gowns and she also taught quilting at Lew-Port continuing education for 35 years.
Having a heart like no other, Grandma lived her life in service to others. She volunteered with the Boy Scouts, the Wilson Booster Club, was a lifetime member of the P.T.A., UMYF, worked elections, volunteered with HANCI as a foster grandparent at Wilson Central School. She was known as Grandma Ellen and was also a senior companion.
She leaves behind her children to mourn this great loss. She is survived by her loving son, Timothy Truesdell of Monticello, NY; her devoted loving grandchildren, Amy and Todd Hauser of Cambria, Eric and Michelle Truesdell of Waxhaw, NC, MSGT. Timothy and Jennifer Truesdell of Ingoff, SC, and Katherine Truesdell of Monticello, NY; She was the very special Nana to Austin and EvannEllen, Eric Jr., Ethan, T.C., and Tyler. Also survived by her daughters in law, Mary Truesdell of Monticello, NY and Susan Truesdell of Lockport; her brother, Timothy Graves and nephew David Graves of Grasswell, England; sister in law, Marilyn Licht of Kenmore, NY; many dear nieces and nephews, many friends near and far, and very special friends Beverly Jeffery and the Spring Family; pet companions Bud and Iggy.
