Obituary of Virginia I. Smithson
Virginia I. Smithson; 92 of Youngstown, NY died Friday June 9. 2017 in Our Lady of Peace with her son Bruce and Family by her side.
Born in Lewiston, NY on February 19, 1925 to the late Milton and Frances (Hillman) Crane.
In her early years Virginia worked in the cafeteria at Woolworth’s Dept. Store and later was a ticket taker at the Theatre in Fort Niagara. On September 15, 1943 she married Richard A. Smithson and was married for 64 years until his death on August 15, 2007. Virginia was loved by all and especially to the name of “Momo” she enjoyed gardening and doing crafts with her grandchildren. Virginia ‘Momo” is survived by her loving son, Bruce (Nancy Grozio) Smithson; daughter Bonnie (David) Lozina; daughter in-law Beverly Smithson; grandchildren Julie Smithson; Lindsay Lozina; John (Dalyn) and Richard Smithson and Charlotte Stamps; great grandchildren Courtney and Brook McMillan and Tyler and Shea Smithson and Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her son Larry Smithson in January 2015; grandson Eric in September 2010 and her brother Alfred (Rita) Crane.
Friends may call at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME N.Fourth and Ridge Sts. Lewiston on Monday from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday (June 13) at 10:00 AM from the Lutheran Church of The Messiah, 915 Oneida St. Lewiston with Rev. Thomas Mason officiating. Burial will at the Convenience of the Family in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria. The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Peace especially 1 west and 2 east for the loving care shown to Virginia for the past seven years. Memorials to the Lutheran Church of Messiah or Youngstown Vol. Fire Co.
