I had the honor to know Coach Weiss as my elementary school phys. ed. teacher and as one of the members of his start-up soccer team that eventually became a varsity sport at Lew-Port. He was a wonderful role model for me and he taught many of us how to play and enjoy all the sports that he coached over the years. He will be missed by his family but please take comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of so many of his students in a very positive and everlasting way. God Bless you, Coach.

LeeAnne,
I would like to send condolences to you and your family on behalf of the LewPort class of 1980 and personally for myself. You dad was a great guidance counselor and was always nice when I came to your house. I spoke to him a few times when I was trying to get a message to you about class events and we always had great conversations reminiscing about school. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Next to my parents, Frank Weiss was the most important person in my life. Not only did he introduce me to soccer, which blossomed into a lifelong passion, but he also instructed me, through his example, on how to live a decent and caring life. He was a true Renaissance man: a collegiate athlete, a coach and guidance counselor, an accomplished guitar player who tuned pianos on the side for some extra cash during an era when teachers and administrators were underpaid.
In stark contrast to some of the other coaches I encountered at Lew Port and later in college, he never lost his temper, never raised his voice. He commanded respect through his knowledge, and he was the best instructor I ever had, patiently explaining over and over what he wanted his young athletes to accomplish.
I moved from Lewiston ten years ago, but each summer I go back to visit friends and family. My visits with Frank Weiss were always the highlight of those return trips, and they usually but not always occurred at Tops Market, where he would be shopping with his lovely wife Sandra. It saddens me to know that this summer there won't be one last reunion with the man who evolved from coach to mentor to friend.
RIP, Coach. Your presence made the world an immensely better place.

Dear Jennifer and Family
I'm sorry to hear of Your Dad's Passing. I'll fondly remember the time that He was My Guidance Counselor in 8th and 9th Grade. My Dad, Allan Vitch, also told of playing baseball for LaSalle High School and "being struck out by Frank 3 times during his perfect game for Niagara Falls High School in 1946." Over the years, it was always nice to see Him and say hello. He was a very good man who will be missed. You will all be in My Prayers.
