George E. Decker, age 101 of Lewiston, died Saturday March 19, 2016 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a short illness. George was born February 16, 1915 In Hudson, NY, the son of the late Edward L. and M. Eleanor (Dotterer) Decker. He was a graduate of the University of Albany where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. For over 40 years he was a math teacher at Lewiston-Porter High School. A U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of WW II, George was commissioned a Lt. in 1945 in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and he served honorably until his discharge in 1972. He married Dorothy (Locke) Decker on July 5, 1947 and they made their home in Lewiston. Dorothy predeceased him in 2003. An avid golfer, George was a member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club and the Old Fort Niagara Association. He is survived by two nieces, Linda Carosella and Virginia Miller, and two nephews, James and David Locke. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday, March 21, from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 22, at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. Burial in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston will be private. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094
