Obituary of Dean M. Schroeder

Dean M. Schroeder of Ransomville, husband of 67 years to Shirley Schroeder entered into rest on April 19th, 2024. Born in Cuba, NY on February 19th, 1935, a native of Belfast, NY, son of the late Edward and Leona (Vroom) Schroeder.
Dean attended Belfast Central School, served in the USAF from 1952-1956, and graduated from Northrup Institute of Technology and Northrup Aeronautical Institute, Inglewood, CA in 1959, as a licensed Jet Engine and Aircraft Technician.
He was employed by the New York State Air National Guard 107th FIG, Niagara Falls, NY for 30 years, retiring in 1990 as a maintenance supervisor with rank of Senior Master Seargent. Prior to that he worked for General Electric Jet Engine Division in California, Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester NY, and Bell AeroSystems, Niagara Falls, NY, where he was employed as a Field Service Engineer on the Air Cushion Vehicle program in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Ransomville United Methodist Church, Lodge No. 551 F&AM, Ransomville, and Retired Air Technicians.
Enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, golfing, boating, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family.
Dean married the former Shirley Towner of Fillmore, NY on April 13th 1957, lived in Rochester, NY, and California, before moving to Ransomville, NY in 1964.
Surviving are his sons, Douglass A. (Mary Jo) (Texas) and Daniel W. (Diane) (Michigan); grandchildren, Christine, Jennifer, and Kathryn (Texas), and Kelly and Samuel (Michigan); great-Grandchildren, William, Henry, Caroline, Thomas, Daniel, and Caden. He is predeceased by his brothers, Allyn, Willard, James, and Donn and sisters, Marilyn, Marilee, and Coila.
Family and friends may call on SUNDAY (4/28) from 11:30 AM. to 2:00 PM. the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES INC. 3648 Ransomville Rd. Ransomville, NY 14131. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Susan Keppy.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance fund or Niagara Hospice.
