Obituary of Beverly J. Denny
Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverly J. Denny Beverly June Denny (nee Lort) born April 15, 1928, entered into her eternal home on Sunday, January 15, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was the daughter of the late Frederick (Sam) and Evelyn Lort. She grew up in Wilson, NY and was a graduate of Wilson High School. She loved music, which was reflected in her involvement in the school chorus and in playing piano. She enjoyed attending school dances and basketball games with her best friend Helen (Barry) Heughan. She married Charles Harvey Denny on September 11, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Wilson. Charles and Beverly began growing their family in 1949 with the birth of their first child, Cheryl Dee, while living in Ransomville. Cheryl was followed by the births of David, Paula and Jill. After the birth of their fourth child, they purchased and moved into a farm house on 18 acres in Ransomville. There Beverly had two more children, Anita and Patti-Jo (the fav). They enjoyed a full and vibrant life on "the farm" growing their own produce (the best strawberries in the county!), raising livestock, and playing in the pond and creek on the property. Beverly learned how to drive and acquired her driver's license at the age of 40 and began working outside the home at Ontario Orchards in Wilson alongside good friends, Vivian Seivert and Gert Myers. In 1978 Beverly and family moved to Youngstown, NY, at which time Beverly began working at Heritage Manor in Ransomville. Beverly was known to many for her beautiful smile, kind heart, angelic singing voice and joyful spirit. She attended the Lewiston Senior Center for the past 10 years and formed many wonderful friendships. She would really get excited about Tuesdays, when she enjoyed serving as a greeter at the Center. A devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by children Cheryl (Philip) Behe, David (Patricia) Denny, Paula (Dave) Gratz, Jill Weller, Anita (Richard) Bakula, Patti Jo (Donald) Smith, sister Sue (Andrew) McKnight, sister-in-law Beverly Bowers, brother-in-law Harold (Helen) Denny. Her grandchildren Lisa, Matthew, Jedidiah, Jennifer, Jaclyn, Joseph, Meaghan, Kellen, Melissa, Colleen, David, Tracey, Travis, Jessica, Stephanie, Alan, Samantha, Kaila, Dylan, 18 great grandchildren. Beverly was preceded in death by husband Charles H. Denny and grandson Travis E. Weller. . Per Beverly's wishes, a private memorial service was held at the Hardison Funeral Home, Ransomville, NY, on January 17th 2017. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to the Lewiston Senior Center, 4361 Lower River Road, Youngstown, NY 14174 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
