Robert J. Shumate, age 82 of Ransomville, died Tuesday January 10, 2017 in Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after a brief illness.
Bob was born January 2, 1935 in Capels, WV, the son of the late Robert H. and Eula (Spears) Shumate. He married Maxine (Sheets) Shumate on June 14, 1958 and they moved to Ransomville from Niagara Falls in 1972. Bob was an U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1954 to his honorable discharge in 1957. He was employed by Carbide Graphite in Niagara Falls for 40 years, retiring as an Inspector.
In addition to his wife, Maxine, he is survived by a son, Robert Brian (Susan) Shumate of Ransomville; a brother, Frank (Carol) Shumate of the Town of Wheatfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Franklin Paul Shumate; two sisters, Margaret Truesdale and Wilma McMicking; and twin brothers, Jimmy O. and Jackie A. Shumate.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville.
