Obituary of Ronald W. Fox

Ronald W. Fox of Youngstown, NY, passed away on December 2, 2016 at Niagara Hospice House, surrounded by his family. Ronald was born on November 2, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late William and Luetta (Messing) Fox. He served in Europe in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1953 where he met his wife of over 63 years, Jean (Hargreaves) Fox. Ron was employed by various industries in Niagara Falls including Wendt's Dairy, Olin Chemical and Varcum Chemical. He also was an entrepreneur and would earn additional income from various endeavors such as selling firewood, moving structures or installing fences. He taught his tireless work effort to his children and others who worked alongside him. He retired from Ironworkers Local #9 and went on to enjoy a long and happy retirement with Jean including many trips around the US and Britain. Ron was a lifelong fisherman from his youngest days in Belleville, Ontario with his father's family, many trips with his friends and family to Canada, locally the Niagara River and Lake Ontario. He especially loved fishing the Peace River in Florida with his wife, Jean. Ron and Jean spent many wonderful years in the Punta Gorda area of Florida where they were surrounded by a large group of terrific friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Michael and Mark (Deborah); daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Donovan; grandchildren, William (Cherie) Fox, Amy (Joseph) Granto, Brendan (Kaitlyn) Donovan, Kyle (Megan) Donovan, Jesse Fox; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Luca, Monet and Rory; and his sister, Shirley (Edward) Gerg. He was predeceased by sisters, Lois (Marion) Kochan and Beverly (John) Peters. Friends may call from 2-4 PM on Saturday, December 10th at the HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his memory may be made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY.
