Bernice R. "Bea" Myers, age 96 of Ransomville, died Wednesday November 9, 2016 under the loving care of her daughter and Niagara Hospice, at the home of her daughter in North Tonawanda.
Bea was born September 19, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Manning) Krekeler and was a graduate of Holy Cross Girls High School in Brooklyn. She has resided in Ransomville since the 1940's. In 1944, Bea's first husband, Harold Bowman, was killed in action during WW II. Her second husband, H. Elric Myers predeceased her on April 2, 1988.
Bea had worked for area farmers and went to market for them in North Tonawanda. She was a member and past president of the Ransomville O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Unit #830 Ladies Auxiliary; a past member of the Ransomville School Board; and was active with the Town of Porter Democratic Party. She enjoyed bowling with her "Good Ol' Gals" team, playing cards (Euchre), baking, cooking, entertaining and dancing. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, Bea was predeceased by her son, Burford Bowman. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. (late Douglas) Dailey of North Tonawanda; her daughter in law, Barbara Bowman of Wilson; her grandchildren, James (Colleen) Bowman, Mary (Kirk) Canfield, B.J. (Trish) Bowman, Jr. and James (Brenda) Dailey; and her great grandchildren, Matthew and Paul Canfield, Mary Beth, Joseph, Laura, and Daniel Bowman, James and Alex Dailey.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 14, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd. Youngstown. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, the O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Unit # 830 Ladies Auxiliary, PO Box 98, Ransomville, NY 14131, or to a Charity of one's choice.
