James M. Tata, age 93 of Niagara Falls NY, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Tuesday September 27, 2016 at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
James was born May 22, 1923 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Michael and Bianca (Phlange) Tato and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. A WW II U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran, James served from February of 1943 to his honorable discharge with the rank of Cpl in October of 1945. He was the recipient of the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit badge, and the EAMETC Ribbon with 7 battle stars. He took part in the So. France, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, Balkans, No. France, Appennines, and Po-Valley campaigns. James was a clerk, employed by Conrail Railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. He spent his leisure time golfing, enjoying his family, and watching sports.
On October 29, 1955 he married Louise F. (Harris) Tata. In addition to Louise, he is survived by his children, Bernie (Gordon) Goodearl, Janine Tata, and Jim (Patti) Tata all of Niagara Falls, NY; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a sister in law Carol Tato and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.
The family will be present to receive friends at the United Baptist Christian Church, 4800 Creek Rd., Lewiston, NY on Saturday, October 1, from 11:00 am to 12 Noon. A Memorial Service will commence at Noon with the Rev. Vince Eisaman officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the United Baptist Christian Church, or to the Blind Association Of WNY, 1170 Main St., Buffalo, NY 14209. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
