I had Miss Hannah as a geometry student in 1976-1977. She was "scary" in that you did not want to have your overnight homework NOT finished. Because if you did, that would be the day that she called on you to do your proof on the chalk board. However, she challenged me and I went from a C to an A and a 92 grade on the regent's exam at the end of the year. Thank you Miss Hannah for all you did to make me understand at geometry and go on to being a geologist. You were a great teacher. I only wish that more teachers that I had during my education were as good as you were.

Miss Hannah had a profound impact upon me. Besides teaching me geometry in 1970-1971 she directly challenged me to truly apply myself to whatever challenge I was undertaking. She recognized I was capable of more. I’ve taken that guidance to heart and only wish I’d had the opportunity to thank her before she passed. Thank you, Miss Hannah, for making such a lasting difference in my life. Rest In Peace.

Miss Hannah was my teacher at Lew-Port 1964-65. She taught Geometry... but that was not even the half of it. She also taught problem solving; how to approach a problem using different views to get a new perspective that would somehow lead to the solution. I made good use of her teachings of logic and reasoning both as a musician and for the last 30 years as a Computer Engineer and Administrator. There was much more to her lessons than "prove how this intersects with this side at a 90 degree angle". Rest in peace, Miss Hannah... and thank you for teaching me how to think.

I had Miss Hannah for Geometry. She was a very dedicated and challenging teacher, and was able to bring life to a subject that really was quite dull. I remember her being upset with our class doing poorly on a test. I can still picture her in the front of the classroom with her red hair telling us in no certain terms that she did not stand up there and clown around for her benefit, but for ours ! She expected the best. I graduated many years ago in 1968 and think of her each time I have the occasion to use math skills that she imparted. may she rest in eternal peace.

One of the best teachers I had at Lew-Port. I had her for 10th grade geometry in 1976. I remember her quick wit and she made me realize that math was something I could really understand. I am sure there were many other young girls in her classes that felt the same way. Her life was very well spent.

I am so sorry for your loss. Looking at her picture, even though I haven't seen her in 36 plus years, I would know her anywhere. Yes, I was her student. She was always patient with me and kind. As one of my favorite teachers, she struck me as being straight up honest and trustworthy. I am so happy to see she lived a long and good life. Prayers, Peace, and love wished to all her family and friends in this time.

Miss Hannah was my 10th grade math teacher over 25 years ago. Her dedication to teaching and to her students is something that I appreciate even more today. I received a 100 on my math regents test the year she was my teacher. Later she tutored me for my GRE and helped me to score well on the math portion of that test. Wishing her family peace during this difficult time.

I was sad to hear about the passing of Mrs. Hannah. When I think back on my years at Lew Port, I often think of Mrs Hannah as the best of the best. She was tough, but she cared about the success of each and every one of her students. Rest in Peace.

The world is a better place because of Ms. Hannah! She was one of the best teachers i ever had. She did not follow the norm and want students as friends, but instead accepted nothing but the very best from here students. From day one she had a no nonsense attitude in class (exactly what we needed), expected you to try and put forth real effort. She demanded it and I am a much better person because of her. Only a few people can make such a deep and profound impact on your life, MsHannah was one of mine. She wil be deeply missed but never forgotton. God Bless

Saddened to read of this news, but grateful for the mathematical and life knowledge Ms. Hannah imparted to me and so many others in high school in the 80s. She was one of a kind, skillfully combining discipline and humor to maximum teaching effect. Rest in peace.

Dear Hannah Family
My Deepest Condolences. I remember Ms. Hannah fondly. When I was set to graduate from Lew-Port in 1986, I was told by St. Thomas University that I couldn't attend without passing a Geometry Class. Ms. Hannah tutored Me during the Summer, and I was able to attend that Fall. Students and Teachers called Her "The Sargent" due to Her tough exterior, but She had a Heart of pure Gold. I know She's in Heaven, and will be missed. You all are in My Prayers

I was so very saddened today to learn that Miss Hannah is no longer with us. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
Miss Hannah was my teacher in approx 1977. I was perhaps the most Math Challenged person anyone could meet. There was no challenge too great for Miss Hannah. She never let me fail. She taught with discipline, structure, logic, and made it a point to know her students. Many years later, I understood her striking sense of humor.
I was honored, in 1997, when I was hosting an 80th Birthday party for my Mom at the Alps restaurant that she heard of the event, and showed, because she wanted to see me again.
A Phenomenal Teacher that had an enormous impact on my life.

Miss Hannah was my Geometry teacher in 1970 and she was the best. I struggled and she worked with me constantly. We set up so many after school appointments for tutoring....I wouldn't have made it through without her. There aren't any teachers today with her dedication and that's sad.....here I am well over 40 years later remembering her like it was yesterday.
Thank - you Miss Hannah for making such a positive impact on so many lives. Rest in peace and I''ll see you in eternity.

A great teacher and next door neighbor! I will always remember her as "Sergeant Hannah" keeping us kids in line "Some Old Hags, Collins And Hannah, Teach Old Algebra" I would shovel her driveway and porch, visiting her when I traveled back home to Youngstown and catching up on the latest in the neighborhood. She loved her dogs and cat, and collected turtle statues. RIP Ms Hannah
