Betty Burlingame

March 19, 1927 — January 1, 2016

Betty Burlingame, former longtime resident of Lewiston NY, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 1, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born In Pittsburgh, PA to William and Josephine Felix. Betty was a Registered nurse who worked at the former Ransomville hospital. She was involved for several years with the Lewiston Council on the Arts and was chairwoman of the Lewison Art Festival during the 70's. She enjoyed buying and selling collectibles and antiques which she and John, her late husband of 66 years, continued to do after retiring to Port Orange FL in 1993. There she became a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where she attended faithfully. An avid fan of all sports, Betty particularly enjoyed watching hockey, football and auto racing and was known to play a mean game of badminton, even in her 80's! Betty always looked forward to returning to WNY every summer to visit her family and friends. Survivors include 3 daughters; Lynn (Craig) Zielin, Jamie (Joe) McNally, and Sheila Dier (Wayne Lagoda); 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and a nephew. A memorial service will be held graveside on Saturday, July 23rd at 11:00 am in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. A luncheon will follow at Knead the Dough restaurant in Ransomville. Flowers are gratefully declined.
