Obituary of Sarah J. Johnson

Sarah J. Johnson, age 90 of Lewiston, found peace resting in the arms of the Lord on Thursday May 19, 2016. Sarah was born March 26, 1926 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Sirculla) Ricotta. She married William E. Johnson on April 8, 1953 and they moved to Lewiston in 1957. For ten years Sarah worked in the laundry department at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, retiring in 1984. She and William moved to Mint Hill, NC and lived there until returning to Lewiston in 2015. Sarah enjoyed her time in North Carolina. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed cooking as well. In addition to her husband, William, she is survived by her children, Deborah (John) Sharpe and Donna (Dave) Gubala both of Lewiston, David Johnson of Wellsville, NY, Daniel Johnson (Betty Helms) of Concord, NC, and Douglas (Beverly) Johnson of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, John Paul Sharpe, Lindsay, Richard, and Rebecca Gubala; her great grandchildren, Aubrey and Amelia Johnson; a sister, Millie Cortese of Upland, CA and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Samuel Ricotta and a sister, Anita Greco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 23, at 10:00 am in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, the Arthritis Foundation, Upstate NY Chapter, Buffalo Branch, 55 Pineview Dr., Suite 200, Amherst, NY 14228, or for Masses at St. Peter's RC Church for the repose of her soul. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
