David Bonnett posted a condolence

Alice and Charlotte,
It was so nice to see you and the rest of your family last Tuesday. As well as visiting your father a couple of times in Youngstown and once at the OLP, I enjoyed sending him pears at Christmas from Harry and David. I looked forward to his phone call thanking me more than when he later sent me something from Harry and David in return. He and Mamie came to my mother's celebration of life in 1993. I was very pleased and surprised to see his great smile when they pulled up at the end of the driveway.
Charlotte, I hope you had an uneventful return to Durham. I can't imagine doing that trip in one day. Possibly Duncan shared the driving with you? My return trip was only 9 hours. Carl was worried about you the last time I talked to him. He thought you have had it kind of hard in your employment, but was proud that you have been successful in selling luxury cars. So I hope you may be able to retire now like the rest of us.
There haven't been a lot of grandchildren from the Bonnett boys. Bill has a son Michael and a daughter Elizabeth from his first wife. Michael has a son Zachary, Beth has a daughter Jillian, and is expecting twin girls this summer.
Linda has two daughters Jennifer and Alison. Jennifer has a son Michael and a daughter Diana, and Alison has two boys, Gavin and Oliver (named after Clint).
I didn't think of it at the time, but I believe Jim is with the same girlfriend as at the 90th birthday celebration. That's nice.
My mother and Aunt Jody visited Bob Carleton, Guy Carleton's son in Washington.
One summer in the 1980s Bob Carleton's son, also named Bob, came to Maryland with his new bride to visit my mother. I told him about Aunt Jody's passing in 2011.
He would also be our second cousin, wouldn't he?
According to the internet, your grandfather was born in England. I did not know that. Alice, did you tell me that he had a lot of siblings? Sometimes new information does not penetrate my skull completely. Sorry for that.
Thanks for letting me share in your celebration of your father's life.

I am the daughter of Mike & the late June Hinde who were good friends of both Carl & Mamie.
I had the pleasure of meeting both of your parents, and they were lovely and charming. Carl and my father spent quite a bit of time together after they each lost their wives. Carl was such a wonderful man, and was always kind to my sister and I. A perfect gentleman.
Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss.

Carl was a great man. He was always such a kind and gentle person. I enjoyed many thoughtful conversations with him. He was a blessing in my mother's ( Ruth Woolery) life. He treated her like a princess and her children as his own. There are very few souls we meet that have the lasting impact of this very beloved man.
