Alexander Thomson, III, age 85 of Lewiston, died Tuesday April 26, 2016 in Northgate Health Care Facility in Wheatfield after a lengthy illness.
Alexander was born January 30, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Alexander and Margaret (Strain) Thomson and spent most of his life in LaSalle. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he served from February of 1948 to his honorable discharge with the rank of AM 3 in January of 1952. Alexander was the recipient of the Navy Occupation Medal (Japan), the Korean Campaign Medal. 3 Battle Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge he married Lorraine (Paterson) Thomson on March 7, 1952.
Alexander was a Traveling Operator, employed by Niagara Mohawk for over 35 years, retiring in 1989. He and Lorraine then moved to New Port Richey, FL. After 20 years they returned to live in Lewiston in 2009. They were members of the Bacon Memorial Presbyterian Church and Alexander was a Past Master and member of F&AM Masonic Lodge #1049 in LaSalle. He also enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two sons, David (Sally) of Youngstown, NY and Glenn (Carol) Thomson of Doylestown, PA; a daughter, Janet Eagen of Royalton, NY; his grandchildren, Philip (Sarah) and Bryan (Amanda) Thomson, Katie (Alan) Rodriguez and Kelly (Anthony) Romantini; four great grandsons and a brother, Jonas Buja of Colorado.
Services have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston and will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
