William D. Lazeski, age 85 of Lewiston NY, died Friday March 25, 2016 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, after a short illness. William was born January 16, 1931 in Rochester, NY, the son of the late William and Christina (Nephew) Lazeski. He attended local schools and attended Yale University on a Fulbright Scholarship, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, William served from October of 1951 to his honorable discharge with the rank of PFC in September of 1953. He was the recipient of the American Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal. William married Elizabeth (Lucas) Lazeski on August 9, 1958 and they have made their home in Lewiston the past 35 years where they have operated Lazeski Antiques. William was an accomplished and talented artist. Many of his paintings are in the Albright-Knox Art Museum and at the 5th Avenue Gallery in New York City. A kind and sweet man, William has made many friends throughout the country and has had a great influence in the Buffalo Art Community especially among its' young artists. He also was very active in the Democratic Party wherever he has lived. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth and his son, Steven Lazeski. Services were private at the convenience of the family.
