Dorothy Z. Glasgow, age 90 of Lewiston NY, died Wednesday March 30, 2016 in the Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a brief illness.
Dorothy was born July 25, 1925 in Warsaw, NY, the daughter of the late Gregory and Irene (Bondaruck) Zinkievich. She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and has lived in Lewiston the past 62 years. She married Alexander Glasgow and together they owned and operated Varsity Sporting Goods Niagara Falls, NY for many years. Dorothy also owned and managed “Toads & Diamonds” toy store in the Rainbow Mall as well as “Twist of the Mist” and “Misti Dog Grill”.
She was a former longtime member of Pierce Presbyterian Church in Niagara Falls and currently is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Dorothy volunteered with Meals on Wheels, delivering meals into her late 80’s.
Alexander predeceased her in 2001. She is survived by a son, William A. Glasgow of Grand Island; her grandchildren, Marci DeMartinis and Mindi Mietlicki; two great grandsons; a sister, Vera Russo and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by two sisters, Anastasia Anderson and Tess Walsh, and two brothers, Walter Zink and Steven Gregory.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 2, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, 505 Cayuga St. Lewiston, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be private. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston.
