James B. Fisher, age 95 of Lewiston NY, died Wednesday March 23, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a short illness. Jim was born November 16, 1920 in Pike, NY, the son of the late John A. and Amanda E. (Wood) Fisher. He was a 1938 graduate of Trott Vocational High School and worked as a Turret Lathe operator for Union Carbide in Niagara Falls. Jim entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and served until his honorable discharge with the rank of Sgt. In 1946. He took part in the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns and received the EAME Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the WW II Victory Medal. Jim returned to Union Carbide after the war and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor in 1981 after 40 years of service. On April 5, 1952 he married Genevieve Pisarski and they moved to Lewiston. Genevieve predeceased him in 2006. Jim enjoyed deer hunting and being outdoors. He was always helpful to his friends doing light maintenance. He is survived by his step grandchildren, Michael (Debby) Gladish of Oceanside, CA, Michele (Fred) Zawacki of Niagara Falls, NY, and Matthew (Kim) Gladish of Lewiston; his great grandchildren, Hailee and Jacob Frain, Ashley & Joshua Zawacki; a brother, Alfred (Edith) Fisher of Warsaw, NY; several nieces and nephews; and his special caregiver, Bonnie Korb. He was predeceased by a step son, Michael Gladish, III; a step granddaughter, Mary Frain; two sisters, Velma (late Harold) Howard and Martha Dutton; and four brothers, Almond, Gerald, John, and Donald Fisher. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday, March 28, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
