Donald Lee "Moo Cow" McCollum, age 72, lifelong resident of Ransomville, died Saturday March 4, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Lee was born August 31, 1943 in North Tonawanda, NY, the son of the late Donald and Elma (Jeffrey) McCollum. He married Anna E. Zimmerman on July 20, 1963. Lee was employed as Parts Manager for Modern Disposal Corp. for 23 years. Previous to that he had worked for NAPA and Anchor Motor Freight Systems. Lee served as a member of the Town of Porter Planning Board for 20 years. He was a 25 year member and an Exempt member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Co.; a member of the NRA, and the AARP; and a former member of the Niagara County Motorcycle Club. He is survived by his wife, Anna; two daughters, Trisha (Doug) Preston and Terri (William) Phillips both of New Port Richey, FL; two grandchildren, Alexandra and William Phillips; two sisters, Donna Wollenberg of Middleport, NY and Jean Upton of Medina, NY; and a brother in law, Norm "Bud" Braun of Middleport, NY. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Braun. Lee donated his remains to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Buffalo. Services will be private.
