Diana :Bunty" Decker aged 90 of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston after a brief illness.
Bunty was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 8, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Diana (Brown) Fitzpatrick originally of Glasgow, Scotland. Bunty attended local schools (some elementary years in Scotland). She loved Gaskill and graduated from Niagara Falls High School with the great class of 1943. During high school, she worked at Nugent's Nat'l Stores (Niagara Avenue & Main Street, Niagara Falls, NY). After graduation, Bunty worked in the Payroll Department of the Carborundum Company through the end of World War II.
Bunty married Jim Decker a World War II Veteran, when he returned from the war. They were married in Trinity Lutheran Church of Niagara Falls on December 1, 1945. They shared 60 of the most wonderful years together from Niagara Falls, NY to Southern California. They spent 44 of those years in Long Beach and Rancho Mirage, California. She was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother and the most loyal friend in the world. While living in Long Beach she worked in the printing industry, and she spent many
happy years at Seaside Printing Company.
Bunty was predeceased by her husband Jim in April 2006; Son James E. Decker (Long Beach, California Firefighter) in 1993; her sister Anne Coty-Buzanowski of Lewiston in 2005, and her brother Edward Fitzpatrick of Lewiston, in July 2012. She is survived by one son, David Decker and his wife Isabel, of Lewiston. Bunty is also survived by many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a myriad of the most wonderful friends in the world from New York to California.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 8, 2016, at 11:00 am in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Rd. Lewiston. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts. Lewiston, NY. Memorials may be sent to Bunty's son, David Decker, 698 Northridge Dr. Lewiston, NY 14092.
