Obituary of Catherine "Kit" Long

Catherine "Kit" Long, age 62 of Youngstown, died Tuesday February 2, 2016 in the Cuba Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Cuba, NY after an extended illness.
Kit was born February 17, 1953 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Hickey) Shaver and was a 1971 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School. Many years ago Kit worked as a waitress at the Deer Head Restaurant in West Seneca as well as various other area restaurants. Kit enjoyed traveling with her husband, Harry W. Long, and spending winters in their motor home in Florida as well as their summer home in Black Creek. She and Harry were members of the Hinsdale, NY American Legion, the Cuba, NY V.F.W., and Am Vets.
She is survived by her husband, Harry; a daughter, Nancy (Sergio) Cruz of Buffalo; a son, Daniel Long of Black Creek, NY; a brother, Harold Shaver of Lewiston; a sister, Michelle (John) Dorsey; and two grandchildren, Mateo and Gianna. She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Shaver.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Company, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston.
