Ralph E. Myers, age 86, formerly of Townline Rd. Town of Lewiston, died Friday January 15, 2016 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, after a long illness.
Ralph was born December 27, 1929 in Lewiston, the son of the late Roy E. and Leona (Chittenden) Myers and was a lifelong town resident. He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, having served from November of 1950 to his honorable discharge in October of 1953 with the rank of A/3C. Ralph was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal.
Ralph was employed by the Town of Lewiston Highway Department for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, and was an Exempt Member of the Lewiston Vol. Fire Company #1.
He married Nancy K. McAneny on September 7, 1969. Nancy predeceased him in 2004. Ralph is survived by two daughters, Christie Myers (Ken) of Oakwood Hills, IL and Julie (Fred) Douville of Amity, AR; two brothers, Roy "Bud" Myers of Lewiston and Robert Myers of Sommerville, NC; a sister, Lucille Wyzykowski of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ronald and Lewis Myers and a sister, Lois Robertson.
Services are private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O. Box 748, Lewiston, NY 14092. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville.
