Eileen Herstek, age 70 of Sanborn, died Saturday January 2, 2016 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Eileen was born January 6, 1945 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Steve W. and Catherine (Metzinger) Stephens. She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn and was a 1963 graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School. Eileen was a Nurse's Aide, employed by Mt. View Health Facility in Lockport for 28 years, retiring in 1988. She loved her "granddogs". She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard A. O'Hara and by her second husband, Walter Herstek, Jr. She is survived by a son, Richard "Rick" (Judy) O'Hara of Ransomville; a daughter, Cynthia Robies of Medina; her grandchildren, Matthew (Jamie) and Eric O'Hara, Jill (Billy) Coleman, Catherine and Taylar Danielewicz; a sister, Dorothy Stephens of Sanborn, and a brother, James (Karitha) Stephens of Bangkok, Thailand. Eileen received such unconditional and unselfish care from her siblings. Her family would also like to give a special thank you to Judy Bailey from Niagara Hospice for the special care she gave to Eileen. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Tuesday from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 6, at 11:30 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. James Bastian officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Shawnee Fire Co., 3747 Lockport Rd., Sanborn, NY 14132.
