Kenneth L. Chamberlain, age 83 of Ransomville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday November 27, 2015 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport. Born December 11, 1931 in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and LaAnna (MacDonald) Chamberlain. Upon graduation from Lewiston High School in 1949 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Airman 1st Class on January 16, 1953. He went on to graduate from Michigan State College. On April 17, 1954 Kenneth married the love of his life, Shirley A. "Shakey" Buttery. He worked as a Carpenter for Nu-Trend Homes for over 20 years. He retired from the former Carpenters Millwright Local # 280 (now Local #276). Kenneth was a member of the O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Post #830 in Ransomville for over 34 years and was an active member of the Youngstown Lion's Club. An avid sports enthusiast, he was involved with racing for over 50 years, from a crew member to a fan. Kenneth also had a love of reading and enjoyed his garden and hummingbirds. His beloved wife, Shakey, predeceased him on April 11, 2003. He is survived three children, Sharon Whyte (Mark Pierson), Sandra Jastrzemski, and Neal Chamberlain; three grandchildren, Jason (Clara) and Jodi Jastrzemski, and Brian (Jill) Whyte; four great grandchildren, David, Emily, Valeria, and Thomas; his brothers, Jerry, Dick, and Mike Chamberlain and a sister, June Zimmerman. He was predeceased by a son, David Chamberlain and three brothers, Marvin, Bobby, and Howard "Shorty" Chamberlain. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday, December 4, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Lowery, Pastor of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd. Town of Cambria. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Youngstown Lions Club, P.O. Box 405, Youngstown, NY 14174, or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
