Obituary of Janis M. Ripley

Janis Walker Ripley, age 51, passed away Sunday January 24, 2010 at home in Niagara Falls, after a brief illness, under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Janis was born July 25, 1958 in Lockport, the daughter of MaryLou (Staples) Walker of Barker and the late Rodney Walker. She was a 1976 graduate of Barker Central High School and a 1978 graduate of Niagara County Community College. Janis served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 1984. She loved camping, computers, and being a grandmother and aunt. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her devoted life partner, Dale Mattison formerly of Youngstown; her sons, Zachary T. Ripley (Tami) and Christopher Ripley both of Niagara Falls, NY; a sister, Jody (Stephen) Kropf of Newfane; a brother, Rodney Walker (Gary Chefetz) of New York City, NY; her grandchildren, Zachary, Adam, and Dominick; her step children, Matthew (Becky) Mattison and Jesse (Marcus) Jeffords both of Youngstown; her nieces, Maggie and Beth Kropf of Newfane; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Tuesday, January 26, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. James Hassett officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
