Gary M. Barnes, age 70 of Dorwood Park Ransomville, died Monday October 12, 2015 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice, after a brief illness.
Gary was born June 10, 1945 in Binghamton, NY, the son of the late Ellsworth and Albina Barnes. He was a 1964 graduate of Lockport High School and has lived in Ransomville since 1973. He retired in 2003 as an Accountant from the Carastar Co. (formerly Upson Co.) in Lockport, after 40 years of service.
Gary was an Exempt Member of the Wilson Volunteer Fire Co.. He loved woodworking, doing projects for his friends and family from the workshop he built in his home. He also enjoyed going to the casino, estate sales, and was a computer whiz. Gary was a very loving and giving man who will be greatly missed by all.
He was married to Roxanna (Luzader) Barnes on July 10, 1965. Roxanna predeceased him in January of 2009. He is survived by a son, James (Carol) Barnes of Tonawanda; a daughter, Suellen Barnes (late Charles Poole) of Ransomville; his grandchildren, Samantha Littke, VickiLyn Pinkert, JonAnthony Wiltberger, and Danielle Poole; his great grandchildren, Gage and Garrett Tong, and Jayden Goodman; a step grandson, Charlie Poole and family; a sister, Sandra Barnes of Tonawanda; his extended family, Gary and Nadine Stanton, Bert and Mary Sebring; and his furry friend of 20 years, "Buddy Butt".
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday, October 16, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
