Obituary of Dale Duncan

Dale Duncan, age 77 of Youngstown, died Monday October 12, 2015 at his residence under the loving care of his family and Niagara Hospice.
Dale was born April 4, 1938 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of Ivah (Dale) and the late Wayne Duncan. After graduating from local schools he attended Clarkson College from 1956 to 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957 and was honorably discharged from active duty in 1960. He completed his naval reserve obligation in 1963. Dale married Georgia A. Rogers on December 5, 1960 and they lived in Youngstown most of their lives together.
Dale had worked as a Telecommunications Specialist at Union Carbide for 25 years. He then was employed by the Town of Porter as a Groundskeeper and Dog Catcher for 10 years. Dale was a member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. for 30 years, and a communicant of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and friends and his bird sanctuary in his back yard.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Georgia; his mother, Ivah Duncan of Brevard, NC; three sons, Jim (Susan) of Newfane and their children Kyle and Conner, John (Kimberly) of Marietta, CA, and their children Sarah and Zachary, and Jerry Duncan of Youngstown and his children, Lucas, Ethan, and Dylan; two brothers, James (Rose) of Toledo, OH and Bruce (Marie) Duncan of Grand Island. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey W. Duncan.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Thursday, October 15, at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman & Second Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. (Please assemble at Church). Burial with Military Honors will follow in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174, Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094, or to a Charity of one's choice.
