Betty M. Rogers, age 83 of Youngstown, died Sunday September 13, 2015 in the Niagara Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Niagara Falls, NY after a short illness.
Betty was born June 2, 1932 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Winges) Hertz. She grew up in the Falls and was a graduate of LaSalle High School and the Kelley Business School. On June 20, 1953 she married Bernard J. "Barney" Rogers and they moved to Youngstown in 1963.
Betty was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown and an ardent supporter of the Christian Indian Mission Charities. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband, Barney, predeceased her on January 27, 2007. She is survived by her children, Sally (Wayne) Heath of Gorham, ME, Bernard J. Rogers, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, and Gary Rogers of Ransomville; her grandchildren, Wayne (Taylor) Heath, Jr., Julie (Tim) Hall, Heidi (Ken) Chestnut, and Gary (Marissa) Rogers, Jr.; and 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Caudle; a granddaughter, Amanda Rogers; and a sister, Shirley N. Schisler.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston. on
Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 17, at 11:00 AM in St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Lockport St., Youngstown, with the Rev. Richard Blemaster officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Creek Rd., Town of Porter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 420 Lockport St., Youngstown, NY, 14174.
