Obituary of Vincent J. Rotella, Jr.

Vincent J. Rotella, Jr. 64, of Youngstown, NY passed away after a lengthy battle with Lupus on Tuesday August 18, 2015surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Vincent and Catherine (Ceci) Rotella.
He attended Niagara Falls HS, Trott Vocational, and ECCC. Vince enlisted in the Military in 1969 serving four years as a STAFF Sargent (SSGT), Jet Engine Mechanic with the U.S. Air Force's107th Fighter Interceptor Group. Early in his career, Vince was employed at Buffalo State College. From there he worked at Olin Chemical, and Tam Ceramics in Niagara Falls, NY as an Electrical Supervisor.
As a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, he volunteered his time as a Eucharistic Minister. He was an active participant in Whirlpool Little League Baseball during the 1980's as a Board Member, Equipment Manager, and Coach. An avid athlete, he played second base for Olin's Softball Team, which during his tenure won their league championship. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and cooking. Vince was a skilled wood worker, knife maker, builder-craftsman, artist, and published author of a children's book.
Vince is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy (Pluzdrak), two children, Kristen (Joseph) Brindisi of Snyder, NY, Scott Rotella of Youngstown, NY, his grandchildren which he adored, Jeremy Crone, Karrigan, Allison, and Julia Rotella, brothers, Frank (Gloria) Rotella, Randy (Cathi) Rotella, and sister Deborah (Richard) Scarfone, nephews, great nephews and great nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's R.C. Church, 218 Hinman St. Youngstown, NY 14174 with the Rev. Msgr. J. Thomas Moran on Saturday August 29th 2015, at 10am. There will be no prior visitation. Interment at Holy Trinity R.C. Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America: 2000 L Street NW, Suite 410 Washington D.C. 20036. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
