Obituary of Nancy L. Hanson

Nancy L. Hanson, age 84 of Lewiston, died Monday August 3, 2015 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a lengthy illness. Nancy was born May 15, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Sutter) Simonds. She was a lifelong resident of Lewiston and a graduate of Stella Niagara High School. Nancy had worked as a receptionist for Dr. Vincent Cordaro's Medical Practice in Lewiston for 12 years. She was also a Niagara County Inspector for the Board of Elections both in the Village and Town of Lewiston as well as a Bingo Inspector for the Village of Lewiston. Nancy served as the Volunteer Coordinator for Art Park for 20 years, retiring in 2006. She was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston and a member of the Lewiston Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with her family. Nancy is survived by her husband, David Hanson whom she married on July 7, 1951; her children, Jean (Dan) Stopa and Peter Hanson, both of Lewiston, Thomas (Lori) Hanson of North Tonawanda, and Tricia (Mark) Labosky of Youngstown; a daughter in law, Karen Hanson of Youngstown; a sister, Patricia Lloyd of Victor, NY; a sister in law, Ruth Simonds of Niagara Falls, NY; 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, James Hanson; a granddaughter, Heather Stopa;a sister, Mildred Simonds; and a brother Richard Simonds. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Wednesday from 7 - 9 PM and Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 7, at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating.(Please assemble at Church). Entombment will follow in Holy Angels Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
