Obituary of Harley G. Chapman

Harley G. Chapman, age 68 of Ransomville, died unexpectedly on Saturday August 1, 2015 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.
Harley was born August 1, 1947 in Potsdam, NY, the son of the late Irving and Louise (Premo) Chapman. A lifelong resident of Ransomville, Harley was a 1965 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School. He was an U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam, serving from 1966 to his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1970. Following his release from active duty, Harley began a 41 ½ year career with National Grid in Niagara Falls. He retired as a Foreman on December 1, 2011.
Harley had a great passion for his Harley Davidson and was a member of HOG, "Harley Owners Group". He also was a member of ABATE, the National Rifle Association, and the Open Arms Community Church in North Tonawanda.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille (Singley) Chapman whom he married June 20, 2009; a son, Jeffrey Chapman of Buffalo, NY; a daughter, Katie Chapman of Reno, NV; two step daughters, Carol Szarszewski of Ransomville and Tammy (Bruce) Jackson of Lockport; a grandson, Jacob Ridenour; two sisters, Dorothy (Wayne) Lehman and Carolyn (Lloyd) Wilson both of Ransomville; and numerous in laws.
A Celebration of Harley's Life will be held on Sunday, August 30, at 2:00 pm in the in the Open Arms Community Church, 4143 Beach Ridge Rd., North Tonawanda, NY with the Rev. Jonathan Hunt officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094
