Caroline A. Granato, age 90, a thirty year resident of Lewiston, died Monday July 20, 2015 at her home under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Caroline was born January 30, 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (George) Granato. She attended local schools and received her Nursing Degree from the Meyer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo. Caroline enjoyed a nursing career that spanned 40 years. She was the Director of Nursing at the Erie County Medical Center for 20 years, retiring in 1988. Caroline was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston. She was a world traveler and loved animals. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Carmella and Rose Granato. She is survived by her cousins, Nicholas J. (Sharon) George, Janet (late Charles) Otis, Russell and Joseph (Barbara) George, (the late John) and Melanie George, Rosemary (David) Gleason, RoseArlene (Peter) Carella, John Maglio, and (the late Joseph) and Lillian Travis. Also survived by numerous other cousins and dear friends. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday from 6 – 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating. (Please assemble at Church) Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
