Obituary of John Seymour Burlingame

John Seymour Burlingame, 88, former longtime resident of Lewiston NY, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2015 with his loving wife, Betty, at his side. He was born March 31, 1927 to the late Clinton and Caroline (Ransom)Burlingame, proprietors of the Wm H H Ransom Co., general store in Ransomville NY. John was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1944-1948. In the 1950's he and a partner formed NuTrend Homes Inc and built houses across the Niagara frontier through 1980. He continued on his own as the NuTrend Building Co. until he retired to Port Orange FL in 1993, returning to visit his family in WNY every summer. An avid stock car racing enthusiast, he enjoyed building and working on dirt and asphalt modifieds. He helped area drivers such as, Ed Ortiz, Neil Truesdale, Merv Treichler, Jim and Charlie Rudolph and Gary Iulg, compete successfully at tracks throughout the eastern states. He was a former member of NASCAR and the Niagara Frontier Builders Association and a current member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he attended faithfully. Survivers include his wife of 66 years, Betty (Felix),whom he married in October of 1948; 3 daughters; Lynn (Craig) Zielin, Jamie (Joe) McNally, and Sheila Dier (Wayne Lagoda); 6 grandchildren and a nephew. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May16, 2015 at 11:00 am in HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville. Flowers are gratefully declined.
