Obituary of Carl E. Mowers

Carl E. Mowers, age 73 of Youngstown, died Saturday April 18, 2015 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a lengthy illness.
Carl was born March 11, 1942 in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Carl T. and Louella (Yukon) Mowers. He moved to Youngstown in 1973 and married Geraldine "Jerri" (Scarpino) Mowers on May 19, 1973. Carl was a Truck Driver, employed by Modern Disposal Corp. in Model City, NY for 20 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. for 30 years and has served as an EMT and Fire Police. Carl was a delegate for the Niagara County Fire Police Association for 10 years. He was also a communicant of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown. Carl enjoyed racing and attended the Ransomville Speedway every Friday. He also loved riding his motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Jerri; his three step children, Kim Marie Muggleton of Enfield, CT, James Muggleton of Youngstown, and Jerry (Jennie) Muggleton of Lewiston; three sons, Carl (Dawn) Mowers of San Diego, CA, Brad (Sherri) Mowers of Massena, NY, and Timothy (Barbara) Mowers of Syracuse, NY; two brothers, Gerald (Barbara) Mowers and Thomas Mowers both of Texas,; a sister, Sheila (Bud)Fitzhugh of Maryland, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Duskee.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, at 10:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Hinman and Second Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. There will be no prior visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co., PO Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094. Arrangements have been entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston.
