Obituary of Elmer A. Koss

Elmer A. Koss, age 85 of Wilson entered peacefully into rest on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Niagara Hospice.
Elmer was born May 28, 1929 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Elmer and Julia (Stegler) Koss. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korea serving from 1951 to his honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal in 1953. While in the service he married Joyce L. (Martin) Koss in 1952 and they moved to Wilson shortly after his discharge. Together they owned and operated Martin's Restaurant in Wilson from 1954 to 2010. Joyce had predeceased him on December 7, 2010 after 58 years of marriage. Elmer had also owned and operated his own business, Koss Heating and Sheetmetal before joining Sheetmetal Union Local 69 in Buffalo from where he retired in 1997.
Elmer was an active member of the B. Leo Dolan American Legion Post#410 in Lockport and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Denise (George) Ziemendorf of Wilson, Darlene (Gary) Farnham of Ransomville, and Debra L. Roeser (Zane) of Wilson; his grandchildren, Tracy and Matthew Ziemendorf, Justin Farnham, Nicole Ross, Diane, Shelly, and Kristin Roeser; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Koss, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 4, at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald Haefer officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 220 Young St., Wilson, NY 14172 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
