JoAnn K. Norbut, age 70 of Ransomville, died Sunday January 4, 2015 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston.
JoAnn was born August 13, 1944 in Canisteo, NY, the daughter of the late Lewis and Gladys (Cline) Bush. She attended Canisteo High School and graduated from Niagara County Community College's Nursing School as a Registered Nurse in 1983. Upon her graduation JoAnn worked at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, for Dr. Scott McKay, and retired from the Niagara Cerebral Palsy Association in Niagara Falls, NY in 2014.
She enjoyed reading and returning frequently to her roots in the Southern Tier to visit family, friends, and to camp.
JoAnn married Paul J. "Grumpy" Norbut on October 20, 1962. Grumpy predeceased her on May 10, 2014. She is survived by her son, William "Billy" Norbut of Ransomville; two sisters, Nancy Tapp (Ron White) of Pine City, NY and Darlene (John) Dannemiller of Canisteo, NY; five brothers, Jerry (Ellen) Bush of Hornell, NY, Larry Bush of Canisteo, NY, Shirley (Wanda) Bush of New Port Richey, FL, Bill (the late Sam) Bush, and Kevin Bush both of Canisteo, NY; a sister in law, Margaret Norbut of Niagara Falls, NY; her very close nieces, Heather and Amber as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Wednesday from 6 - 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 8, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. William Lowery, Pastor of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria.
Memorials may be made to the Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 239, Ransomville, NY 14131.
