Obituary of Joan H. Holmden

Joan H. Holmden, age 94 formerly of Youngstown, died Thursday November 20, 2014 in the Our Lady Of Peace NCR in Lewiston. Joan was born October 21, 1920 in Kingston, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude (Norcott) Hanley She married David A. Holmden on October 9, 1943 in Pleasantville, NY. They had lived in Williamsville, NY before moving to Youngstown in 1987. David predeceased her on October 2, 2003. Joan was employed as Senior Clerk at the University of Buffalo Law Library for 15 years, retiring in 1983. She loved gardening and was a member of the Youngstown Garden Club. She is survived by a son, David (Leeann) Holmden of Grand Rapids, MI; a daughter, Pamela Holmden of Cleveland, TN; her grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) English, Jennifer (Jamie) Wright, and Juliana English (Kurt Klein); three great grandchildren, Tyler English, Nolan and Tobin Wright; three sisters, Gertrude Ferrington and Eileen Hall both of Valhalla, NY, and Marguerite Davis of Richfield, CT. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Condon and Elizabeth Reinwald. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Monday from 6 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, at 10:00 am in St. Peter's RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, with the Rev. Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating.(Please assemble at Church) Burial will follow in the St. Bernard's RC Cemetery, Youngstown.
