Obituary of Lawrence A. Kolb

Lawrence A. Kolb, age 84 formerly of Brookshire Rd. in Youngstown, died Saturday October 18, 2014 in the Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport after a brief illness.
Lawrence was born April 30, 1930 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Mitchell) Kolb and was a 1947 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Elmira. An U. S. Army Veteran, Lawrence served from February 1951 to his honorable discharge in February 1953. He was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal Germany. Lawrence married Carolyn H. (Turner) Kolb on June 12, 1954. Carolyn predeceased him on October 2, 2009.
Lawrence began working for Moore Business Forms following his graduation from high school in 1947. He retired in 1992 as Director of the Corporate Cost & Pricing Department in Grand Island, NY.
Lawrence was a communicant of St. Bernard's RC Church in Youngstown. An avid golfer, he was a 30 year member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club. Lawrence also enjoyed reading.
For the past three years, Lawrence has lived at the Sterling House on Nash Rd. in Wheatfield. His family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Aids and Staff for their wonderful care.
He is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Mark) Bucholtz of Youngstown; a son, Thomas (Renee') Kolb of Sykesville, MD; his grandchildren, Stephanie Kolb, Mark (Jennifer) Bucholtz, Robert Bucholtz, and Laura (Doug) Brodie; his great grandchildren, Carolyn, Kylie, Cassandra, Aryannah, Nicholas, and Christopher; and a sister, Gloria Kolb of Niskayuna, NY. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Kolb and a sister, Marilyn Verbanic.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 25, at 11:00 AM in St. Bernard's RC Church, Second & Hinman Sts., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas Moran officiating. (Please assemble at Church) Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Oakland Rural Cemetery, Lake Rd., Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, PO Box 387, Youngstown, NY 14174 or to St. Bernard's RC Church, 218 Hinman St., Youngstown, NY 14174.
