Obituary of George H. Hibbard

George H. Hibbard, age 63 of Lewiston, died Saturday October 4, 2014 in the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
George was born February 19, 1951 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Hughes) Hibbard. He was a 1969 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School where he had excelled on the swim and dive teams and held many records in both events. In 1978 George graduated from Georgetown University as a Certified Para Legal. George returned to Lewiston and was employed by the NYS Power Authority first as an Operator for 20 years and then as a Draftsman for 10 years, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the former Niagara River Masonic Lodge #785 F&AM in Niagara Falls. George was a cancer survivor for over five years. Through it all he had a great sense of humor and was known to be a great prankster.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Nowland) Hibbard whom he married August 3, 1974; a daughter, Jessica (Rob) Rockhold of Niagara Falls, NY; a son, Joshua Hibbard (Sarah Burns) of Manhattan, NY; and a brother, Peter F. (Elizabeth) Hibbard of Columbia, MD. He was predeceased by a step son, John B. Hendricks, Jr. and a sister, Susann (Jerry) Farrell.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Thursday, October 9, from 6 - 8 pm. A Celebration of his life will begin at 8:00 PM in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Maines officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631, Buffalo, NY 14240-9856
